GREENPEACE -GLOBAL DAY OF ACTION
Global Day of Action on Climate is created to focus world attention on how we are all effecting global warming and raise our voices about the need for urgent action to avert dangerous climate change.
The United Nations Climate Change Conference takes place in PoznaĆ this year between the 1-12th of December, marking the halfway mark in negotiations for a global agreement on the second phase of the Kyoto Protocol. The Global Day of Action ensures all government leaders know the world is watching and looking for stronger commitments to a climate deal next year in Copenhagen. The negotiations on climate change were launched in Bali in 2007 and will conclude in Copenhagen at the end of 2009.
Last year Greenpeace occupied the Chinnaswamy stadium (Bangalore) during the India Pakistan test match and communicated the impacts and solutions to viewers all over the world. This year we take the Global Day of Action to Varanasi, the mystical and ancient city on the banks of the Ganga. This year takes the Global Day of Action to 12 cities across the country. In each city Greenpeace, India will campaign with the message “Energy Revolution is Ganga’s Solution” and “Save the Ganga
